NPOWER Nigeria Initiative - All You Need to Know
NPOWER NIGERIA, PORTAL, REGISTRATION

NPOWER Nigeria - What's NPower

N-POWER Nigeria is an initiative brought by the Nigeria government to minimize and reduce the percentage of unemployed in Nigeria.

Other than this program, there are other programs that have been started by both government and non-governmental bodies in Nigeria.

N-Power Recruitment program is an initiative that has produced a good number of beneficiaries. Beneficiaries are fresh graduates willing to acquire skills in preparation for the labor market.

While that is common among other empower scheme, there is something unique about N-Power;
N-Power pays you to learn.

So let get into the real details of N-Power.

What’s N-Power Nigeria?

N-Power is a job creation and empowerment programme of the     National Social Investment Programme of the Federal government of Nigeria.

The main policy thrust of the N-Power Programme is the large scale skill development.

N-Power addresses the challenge of youth unemployment by providing a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development while linking its core and outcomes to fixing inadequate public services and stimulating the larger economy. The modular programmes under

N-Power will ensure that each participant will learn and practice most of what is necessary to find or create work.

N-Power also focuses on providing our non-graduates with relevant technical and business skills that enhance their work outlook and livelihood.

Aims of N-Power Nigeria

N-Power is an initiative of empowering young ones to fit in the labor market and at the same time encouraging them by giving them stipends while learning.

Other than this, there are many other aims of N-Power empowerment scheme that I will share with you below now.

•    Large Scale Skills Acquisition / Development

This is one of the main aim why N-Power was established. N-Power was established to encourage the development of large scale skills to fit in into the modern labor market.

•    Diversification of the economy

N-Power is a tool for the diversification of the economy. In order to increase the flow of economy in the country, there needs to be more employments including self-employment. N-Power was also established with the aim of serving as a platform for entrepreneurs to nurture their ideas.

•    Equipping Non-Graduates with Technical and non-technical skills

This is one of the interesting fact about N-Power. N-Power is not only for graduates, it also covers and serves the non-graduates too.

Non-graduates are not exempted because they all have the ability of growing the economy. There are so many examples of drop-outs and non-learned people succeeding in life and becoming a leader in their sector.

So knowing this fact, it would not be nice to limit the opportunities to only the graduates. This is where N-Power comes in.

N-Power bridges the gap between graduates and non-graduates in order to promote efficient flow of the economy.

•    To Promote Agriculture

As much as the agro-evangelism is on fire, there are still many that have doubts in Agriculture. A lot of people do not still believe in the power that Agro-economy can drive.

N-Power was also established with aim of promoting agriculture to graduates and non-graduates.
And following the metrics, N-Power has been killing it in this aspect. N-Power has been able to empower over 12,000 farmers in Nigeria. And they are still in the business of empowering.

Goals of N-Power

•    To intervene and directly improve the livelihood of a critical mass of young unemployed Nigerians.
•    To develop a qualitative system for the transfer of employability, entrepreneurial and technical skills.
•    To create an ecosystem of solutions for ailing public services and government diversification policies.
•    To develop and enhance Nigeria’s knowledge economy.

Categories of N-Power

N-Power has two categories considering the people they serve.
•    Graduate category
•    Non-graduate category

N-Power Volunteer corps

The N-Power Volunteer Corp involves a massive deployment of 500,000 trained graduates who will assist to improve the inadequacies in our public services in education, health and civic education. Some of these graduates will also help in actualising Nigeria’s economic and strategic aspirations of achieving food security and self-sufficiency.

N-Power volunteer corps is a programme for the graduate category. N-Power volunteer corps includes the N-Power Teach, N-Power Health, N-Power Agro, and N-Power VAIDS.

N-Power volunteer corps are technical empowerment programmes for the graduates. The graduates are equipped or let me say have access to computing devices that will contain necessary information for their successful programme.

The N-Power Volunteer corps is an initiative for Nigerians within the age of 18 to 35. It is a paid volunteering programme of 2-year duration.

During the 2-years you receive a monthly pay which they call stipends.

Like I have said that the N-Power corps includes four categories which are N-Power Teach, N-Power Health, N-Power Agro, and N-Power VAIDS.

1.    N-Power Teach

N-Power Teach volunteers will help making basic education in Nigeria better. N-Power Teach volunteers will be posted to primary and secondary schools where they will work as an assistant teacher not replacing the current teacher.

They might also fill some missing gaps in schools that are in great need of teachers. But all of this will be just for 2 years.

N-Power Teach has a sub-division specially for those with the skills and interest in computer programming and other related fields called N-Power Teach  (STEM).

N-Power Teach (STEM) volunteers will assist in the implementation of the Government STEM ‘s programme for primary and secondary schools.

2.    N-Power Health

N-Power Health volunteers will help in the promotion and improvement of the preventive healthcare in their communities to vulnerable members of the societies.

When I refer to vulnerable members, I am referring to babies, pregnant women, immune-deficient patients and other members vulnerable to diseases attacks.

3.    N-Power Agro

N-Power Agro is the third division of N-Power volunteer corps.
N-Power Agro volunteers will serve as an advisory board to the farmers all over Nigeria. They will provide advisory services to farmers across the country.

They will disseminate the knowledge that  has been put together by the Federal ministry of Agriculture.

N-Power Agro has been doing very well among other sub categories of the N-Power programme.
N-Power Agro has been able to empower a lot of Nigerians and has encourage a good number of youths to venture into Agriculture.

P.S I have also been influenced by N-Power Agro to start my agricultural venture.

Requirements

Applications are accepted from applicants will OND, HND, and B.Sc. in the following disciplines Nutrition, Agricultural sciences, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Animal science, Crop science, Food science & Technology and other Agro related disciplines.

4.    N-Power VAIDS

N-Power VAIDS is known as The Voluntary Asset and Income Declaration Scheme(VAIDS).

Volunteers of N-Power VAIDS are embodied with the task of encouraging and assisting non-compliant and partially compliant tax payers to voluntarily declare their correct income and assets and pay the appropriate amount to the federal government.

This is a special group of volunteers that will be acting as Liaison officers overseeing the assisting and collection of tax from tax payers.

This special programme is only for a year with the hope that upon completing the 1 year programme, beneficiaries would have gotten employment with tax authorities.

While those who are not able to secure a place, will be transferred to N-Power Teach.

Nigeria was amalgamated in the year 1914. So what’s Amalgamation? Amalgamation is the process of uniting the northern and southern part of Nigeria together. This is what brought the east, west, north, south to be one and united: standing as a country and having one ruler (overseer). The amalgamation was brought by Sir Frederick Lord Luggard.
